AREAS OF ADVOCACY PRACTICE

Michael obtained Higher Rights of Audience in the Criminal Courts in 2002 having qualified as a Solicitor in 1997. He continues to lead a Criminal Department in a Central London Practice made up of solicitors with a strong track record of dealing with serious and high profile cases

He has been instructed as advocate in a wide range of matters in the Crown Court since 2002, from burglary, robbery, assault on children, high value fraud through to serious and high level drug supply, enjoying good relationships with both lay and professional clients. He has also successfully appeared as advocate in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division)

In 2007 he was part of the successful advocacy team in R v Collins and ors (Central Criminal Court), where proceedings arose out of an enormous enquiry into drug trafficking and the Prosecution case centred on allegations made by a so-called ‘Supergrass’

In 2008 he appeared as sole advocate in R v Pyleav and ors( Southwark Crown Court) a 6 week trial in which his Client was alleged to have planned a major disturbance at Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre, resulting in over £5m of damage. Mr Pyleav was acquitted of all 3 counts
